Higher interest rates boost a country's currency, attracting foreign investment and increasing demand for the country's currency. A weak U.S. dollar is generally positive for emerging markets, which is often the case when the Fed cuts interest rates outside of an economic crisis. Experts told CNBC currencies such as the Chinese yuan , the Korean won and the Indian rupee stand to benefit from the Fed loosening monetary policy. So those are also positive for the Indian currency," said Anindya Banerjee, vice president of currency and derivatives research at Kotak Securities.

The biggest change will see the Reserve Bank of Australia adopt a monetary policy committee structure that has parallels to the setup of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers said RBA policy makers would now gather to set interest rates eight times a year, compared with the current 11 meetings.

But passengers in Asia Pacific are currently grappling with bigger price jumps than other regions, highlighting the uneven global recovery. Economy fares to Asia from North America and Europe are set to rise 9.5% and 9.8% this year from last year, respectively, Amex GBT forecasts show. “In the markets where restrictions have been the last to lift, and hence [flight] capacity last to be restarted, the difference in fares is the highest,” said Aitken. Despite China’s reopening, outbound flight capacity “is currently only at 15% to 20% of pre-Covid levels,” according to Trip.com (TCOM) CEO Jane Sun. The restrictions have remained, and those most heavily impacted are between Asia and North America or Europe.
